Music is available on Instagram, but putting songs and lyrics into Stories can be tricky. Here’s how to add song lyrics to any Instagram Story.
The information in this guide is based on the latest version of Instagram (up to the end of September 2021). If you are still having trouble adding song lyrics to your Instagram Story after reading through this article – and especially if you cannot find the icons and tools described – try updating your phone and Instagram itself. Now, let me show you how to add song lyrics to any Instagram Story.
Step 1: Select the Sticker Icon (The Face)
After you’ve captured the perfect photo or video for your Instagram Story, the next step is adding lyrics by selecting the sticker icon at the top of the screen. The symbol sits right in the middle of a line of five others. It is a square with a smiley face on it.
Step 2: Tap the “Music” Option
You will now be able to choose from a variety of tools that will allow you to add your location and/or the temperature of your location, GIFS, polls, as well as many other features to your story.
Adding song lyrics, however, can be done by tapping the “music” button in the center of the screen.
Step 3: Pick a Popular Song — or Search for a Different Title
Once you have tapped on “music,” you will see a list of the most popular songs that have been included in Instagram Stories in recent days. You can choose any of these tracks. Alternatively, if you would like to display the lyrics of a different song, you can use the search function at the top of the screen.
Step 4: Use the Red-and-Orange Slider Bar to Pick Your Preferred Lyrics
As soon as you reach this point, you will notice that the song you selected is playing, and the lyrics are displayed. If you want to select the exact lyrics (and part of the song) that you want to appear in your Instagram Story, you can use the red and orange slider at the bottom of your screen.
If you click on the “number circle” in the bottom-left corner, you can choose how long the lyrics will appear in your Instagram Story (between 5 and 15 seconds).
Lastly, you will find a series of icons above the red-and-orange slider bar that will allow you to either change the lyrics’ font, or simply play the song without any lyrics. It is possible to change the color of the lyrics by using the “color wheel” at the top of the screen.
